BAPE Store NY Closing

Call me a hater but I never liked the brand. I was so confused about all the exposure it was getting when it was the "hot thing" in the market. As a sneaker collector, the Air Force 1 knock off was ugly and tasteless but somehow kids did like it because of the celebrities that rock them on occasion.
To me, A knock off is a knock off. Its fake. No matter how you try to justify the material, colors & etc. Its all lame to me you know why? because its not inspired, its not designed and there is no creativity involved. Air Force 1 is still out fresh because its a classic. Its not a copy of a another famous sneaker disguised as something else. For everybody that bought that BAPE sneaker– what was going on inside your head when you bought the pair? And the price, holy sh*t. I understand its a better material but 400% more than the average brand? I understand as an artist to value your work but the price should have a logical explanation why. Some Jordans are overpriced but do you ever look up the process of research, development, design and engineering involved on those kicks? yes! thats $150 on you- son. But for a kicks thats a copy with colors that can be selected by a toddler pointing at a color wheel?. No. Im not even going to talk about the shirts. Some are saying maybe its better for BAPE to close the store because it will be a hot item since its not so common anymore. Do you really want to spend another dime on a brand that sold its soul to the highest bidder or buy a product from an up and coming creative company that deserves a chance to be seen in this saturated market?
